Don't miss this cultural feast, open until June 2025.

W Salonie Polswiss Art można obejrzeć dzieła Andy’ego Warhola, w tym portret Katie Jones oraz obraz pantofelka Grety Garbo, alongside with works by famous Polish artists like Mehoffer and Matejko. Warhol's art pieces, iconic in nature, will be auctioned with "Portrait of Katie Johnes" valued at 6-10 million, while "To Greta Garbo” is estimated at 1-1.2 million. Warhol's portrait of Katie, a muse with notable social ties, stems from his famous New York studio, The Factory, known for capturing images of renowned personalities. Katie Jones herself was deeply embedded within the artistic circles, due to her familial background rich in art collection. Her upbringing in a house filled with masterpieces likely stirred her profound interest in the arts, leading her to photography and significant artistic endeavors in her life.

Warhol’s creation of Katie’s portrait utilized his typical method of acrylic and silkscreen printing, incorporating vivid colors such as fuchsia and blue to vividly encapsulate her essence. Complementarily, the painting "To Greta Garbo", dating from Warhol's early days as an illustrator in the 1950s, was part of his engagement in commercial illustrations for fashion companies. This work is a result of Warhol’s fascination with blending footwear designs with celebrity culture, giving rise to unique artistic expressions. Among the exhibition’s treasures are over 120 artworks, including the esteemed "Nad jeziorem" by Ślendziński and rare op-art pieces by Wojciech Fangor. This vast array of artworks showcases both veteran and contemporary artists, enriching the cultural tapestry displayed at the gallery, with the exhibition open until the auction date of June 3, 2025.
